Linear Variable Displacement Transformer (LVDTs)

LVDTs provide an extremely reliable solution for a precise linear displacement (position) and gauging measurement. Linear variable displacement transducers can be used wherever a physical displacement or position needs to be converted into an electrical signal for indication or control purposes. All LVDTs feature contactless operation ensuring long life and no degradation of performance with respect to time or number of cycles.

Sentech’s Linear Variable Differential Transformers are designed with the highest level of quality and have been supplied across the globe for 30+ years. We specialize in developing custom, tailored LVDT & RVDT solutions, and output signal conditioning for mission-critical applications such as Power Generation, Nuclear Turbines, Gas and Steam Turbines and in many Commercial and Military Aerospace applications and other high reliability and harsh environmental applications.

Sentech offers pressure sealed LVDTs for use in harsh, dirty environments, such as those found in heavy industrial plants and processes. With housings constructed of stainless steel, these units can sustain pressure of up to 5000 psi (345 Bar) and, when properly equipped, can even operate fully immersed in liquids and fluids with very high pressure like 30000 PSI (2070 Bar).

LVDT Sensor Channels

Single-Channel LVDT Sensors

A Single Channel LVDT (Linear Variable Position Transformer) is the most commonly used device. It consists of a single core with a moveable armature.

Sentech’s single channel LVDT offers position feedback for many industrial, commercial, and military aircraft systems. With a high accuracy linear position sensor, these LVDTs are compatible with a range of mounting configurations.

Combined with its rugged construction, the advantages of Sentech’s LVDT sensors are that they offer high performance and reliability along with resistance to shock and vibration occurring in most industrial and aerospace applications.

Sentech's LVDT construction, and LVDT wiring capabilities also offer a wide range of mounting configurations and pressurized units for many uses.

Multi-Channel LVDT Sensors

Sentech’s multi-channel LVDTs (Linear Variable Position Transformer) offer redundancy in case of a sensor break or failure. Sentech offers multiple channels (primary coil assemblies) in a single housing. Each channel of the industrial LVDT position sensor will feature its own armature attached to the common plate or a common armature, having an important feature for a controlled channel-to-channel tracking accuracy.
