How Sentech Supports Gas Turbine OEMs with High-Quality Sensors

Wednesday, June 23, 2021

If you are a Gas Turbine OEM searching for high-quality sensors, you’ve come to the right place. Gas Turbines are an essential component of a variety of high-powered machinery. Therefore, they must be as safe and reliable as possible. Nevertheless, if you fail to do your research, you may be purchasing inferior products from fraudulent manufacturers. Luckily, manufacturers who choose to work with Sentech are receiving superior quality products that help make their equipment safer and more reliable. With that in mind, here is a closer look at our work with Gas Turbine OEMs and Steam Turbine OEMs.

What are OEMs?

OEMs are original equipment manufacturers. Here at Sentech, our sensors are involved in the assembly process of Gas and Steam Turbines. In other words, we make a sensor for a product such as an actuator, and the OEM will design and manufacture the part from there.

How Do Sentech's Relationships with OEMs Work?

Our relationship with OEMs is a varied one. When OEMs design their product, they, more or less, consult with us. From there, we jointly come up with a solution of the best sensor that will work with that equipment.

OEMs put our sensors in their actuators or equipment. Since we don't make an end-user product, OEMs are instrumental in allowing our products to remain in rotation without having to go above and beyond to market them to the public at large.

Mutually Beneficial Collaborations

Although we value our long-term relationships with our OEMs, the reason we managed to land most of our clients is due to our relationship and technical acumen. Thus, in addition to building new sensors for our customers’ Gas and Steam Turbines, we also help repair and rebuild these products as well.

We supply General Electric, Siemens, Mitsubishi, as well as almost all major Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine OEM manufacturers of the world.

Gas Turbine and LVDTs

When it comes to Gas Turbines, we have a lot of experience in designing LVDTs or RVDTs for the explosive environment. The LVDTs and RVDTs used in gas turbines need to be certified for the explosive environment to ensure they will work without creating the spark or handling the strike. This keeps the gas turbine safe from the ground or lightning happening outside. Making our LVDTs exceedingly safe.

The applications of LVDTs used by OEMs for gas turbines are Stop Ratio LVDTs, Inlet Guide Vane LVDTs, and Valve Position LVDTs. Gas turbines use these LVDTs or RVDTs to control the flow of fuel through an inlet valve. More fuel means more combustion and higher speeds and more power – and less fuel means reduced combustion, lower speeds, and reduced power. Gas Turbines are also cleaner and can be installed quicker than steam turbines.

When working with Gas Turbine manufacturers in the USA, our products are very important. No matter if we are working with Gas Turbine or Steam Turbine generator manufacturers, we provide sensors that give feedback which allows these machines and equipment to detect issues and resolve them before they become major accidents.

Key Takeaways:

  • We’re proud to partner with some of the leading gas turbine manufacturers in the industrial power industry, including General Electric, Siemens, and Mitsubishi.
  • Sentech makes high-quality sensors that help these products detect issues and resolve them.
  • Gas turbine LVDTs need to be certified for the explosive environment.
  • Our relationship with OEMs is mutually beneficial: we provide them with high-quality, trustworthy products, and they allow us to sell our products easier and at a higher rate.
