An online guide is now available that outlines considerations for LVDT installation. Sentech's new 75S2DC series of DC-operated LVDTs are now available. The 75S2DC units are designed for use in factory and assembly automation applications and can be used with many PLCs without the need for any external power supplies or instrumentation. Measurement ranges of 0.100" (2.54mm) to 20.0" (508mm) are available. Operating from +24 VDC, the 75S2DC series can often be connected to a PLC's power supply. The LVDT's output is then fed directly into the PLC for subsequent signal processing and/or initiation of control functions. The non-zero based output can be utilized for fault detection. Many PLCs have comparator functions that will trigger an alarm, should the LVDT output drop to zero volts, indicating a system or LVDT malfunction. These units are configured to operate in hostile factory and outdoor environments. Available in both AC and DC-operated versions, the PC series units offer linear ranges of 0.050" (1.27mm) to 10.0" (254mm). AC operated units are intended for use with external signal conditioners, while DC-operated units require only a DC power supply and yield a high level DC Voltage output. Sentech, Inc, announces its new DC FASTAR fast response linear position sensor, with integral signal processor. The DC FASTAR series provides high precision, non-contacting displacement measuring capability. It features high speed, high response measurements in a unit having short physical length, only slightly longer than the measurement being made. With measurement ranges of 0.76" (19.3mm) to 24" (610mm), the DC FASTAR is suitable for a wide array of applications. The DC Fastar operates from unregulated +10 to +36 VDC power and can be ordered with either a 0 to 10 VDC or 4-20 mA output. Read more about the DC FASTAR in our technical bulletin. Sentech's new RV11 AC-operated RVDT is now available with Bu-Ord standard size 11 servo mount. The RV11 RVDT has a measurement range of 30 with a non-linearity of 0.25% and can be used up to 70 with a non-linearity of 2%. Ideal for high-precision fractional turn measurements, the RV11 provides highly repeatable, absolute measurements without worry about loss of position with power failures or glitches. The RV11 utilizes large, high precision, ABEC 7 grade shielded ball bearings to provide tolerance to side loading, while maintaining precision support to the RVDT shaft. Free to rotate 360, the RV11 RVDT is the ideal solution for high precision angular measurements. Sentech is now shipping the HYDRASTAR and DC HYDRASTAR cylinder position measuring transducers. HYDRASTAR transducers are specifically designed for use in hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and represent a particularly cost effective solutions to measuring cylinder position in strokes of 24 inches or less. The new DC HYDRASTAR utilizes an integral signal processor running from +24 VDC and can be provided with either a 0 to 10 VDC or 4-20 mA output. Installation can be easily accomplished into cylinders already prepared for sensor installation or cylinders can be modified to accept the HYDRASTAR.
